Calderdale's Strongest 2024 - Battle Royale

This competition is open to everyone and the categories focus on the weights used in each event rather than bodyweight, experience or gender.

To decide which category is best for you, simply look at the events and weights and choose which will be the best challenge for your current level of strength.

Nobody likes trophy hunters, not even their mum’s, so don't be THAT person.

EVENT 1 – APOLLON WHEEL AXLE DEADLIFT
Competitors have thirty seconds to complete the lift. If they cannot complete their lift, they are eliminated and the next competitor  takes their turn. Once all competitors have had their attempt, the weight will increase and the competition continues. There will be 4 weight increases in each category. If more than one competitor successfully lifts the final weight, they will continue to take turns lifting the same weight until only is able to complete the lift.
50mm fixed axel. No suits or sumo. Straps allowed.
BANTAM - 100kg. Plus 10kg each round up to 140kg.
WELTER - 140kg. Plus 15kg each round up to 200kg.
CRUISER - 220kg. Plus 20kg each round up to 300kg.

EVENT 2 – FRAME CARRY
Competitors take turns to carry the frame 10 meters. Dropping the frame between the end zones results in elimination. Competitors continue to take turns with the same weight until only one is able to complete the carry.
No straps allowed.

BANTAM - 100kg (Handle height 17”, width 27”)
WELTER - 140kg (Handle height 17”, width 34”)
CRUISER - 220kg (Handle height 17”, width 34”)

EVENT 3 – ROLLING THUNDER
Competitors have thirty seconds to complete the lift. If they cannot complete their lift, they are eliminated and the next competitor takes their turn. Once all competitors have had their attempt, the weight will increase and the competition continues. There will be 4 weight increases in each category. If more than one competitor successfully lifts the final weight, they will continue to take turns lifting the same weight until only one is able to complete the lift.
Thumbless grip is not permitted. Dragging the hand or handle up the leg results in a "no lift". Chalk allowed. No tacky

BANTAM – 32.5kg. Plus 1.25kg each round to 37.5kg. 50mm handle
 WELTER – 35kg. Plus 2.5kg each round to 45kg. 58mm handle
 CRUISER – 50kg. Plus 2.5kg each round to 60kg. 58mm handle

EVENT 4 – STONE OVER YOKE
Competitors take turns lifting the stone over a 4 foot yoke until only one is able to complete the lift.
Tacky allowed. If two competitors are going head to head, each lift must start from the floor and cannot be caught on the bounce.
BANTAM - 60kg
WELTER - 80kg
CRUISER – 110kg

TIE BREAKER
​If, after all four there is a tie for first place, those competitors will go head to head in one final event and battle it out to become Calderdale's Strongest!

Weights and events are subject to change if needed but we will endeavour to keep them the same.
T-shirts for everyone who competes on the day.
£35 entry fee per competitor and is non-refundable.
