Hampshire’s Strongest 2025
We are back this year for an even bigger event at Gladiator Fitness Camp, based at Petersfield Rugby Club.
This will be a weekend of strength with Hampshire's Strongest Novice/Masters on Saturday 23rd August 2025 and the full weight class Hampshire's Strongest on Sunday 24th August 2025.
U115kg is what I’ve chosen in order to bridge the gap between lighter classes and Opens.
Entries are first paid first serve. Entry is £47.50. Strictly no refunds - all entry fees go towards infrastructure for event!
Entry closes 31st July.
Timings:
23rd (Novices and Masters) - We will have athlete check-in from 7:30am, 9:15am we will have a rules briefing for the following events. The competition will start at 10am sharp.
24th (main competition) - We will have athlete check-in/weigh-in from 7am. 9:15am we will have a rules briefing for the following events. The competition will start at 9:45am sharp with the order throughout being Women’s U75/over 75kg, Men’s U90/U115/Opens.
WEIGH-INS will be on the day! From very early (7am) - keeps it fair for everyone.
Spectators will be allowed, with tickets available for £5 each. Kids under 5 are free entry. Dogs are allowed at the club, on leads and away from the 1st team pitch please. All dog mess must be cleared.

Hampshire's Strongest 2025 Updates! 1st Aug 2025 8:11am
Hi all,
Entries are now closed! The uptake this year has been something special and we thank you all for it. It really is going to be the best Hampshire's Strongest yet thanks to Petersfield Rugby Club, Gladiator Fitness Camp, Stu Barden and Steve Stidolph.
We will be putting some videos/announcements/info up on the Instagram in the last couple of weeks but just a few bits to note:
- Spectator tickets are a must, they can be bought online up until the day before or on the weekend itself (however they will be more expensive on the day)
- PLEASE where possible car share, we are organising one of the pitches as overflow parking and there is plenty of parking surrounding the club but with the entries we've had this year it will be BUSY.
- Please don't come and dump your bags anywhere, we are aiming to have a full under cover athlete area and use of changing rooms inside the club to store your stuff so there will be plenty of space. We can't have trip hazards and kit everywhere.
- You can very much bring your own chairs, gazebos, tents or whatever else, we will allocate space you can set this up. Please be wary we CANNOT be on the 1st Team pitch so if you get asked to move stuff, don't take offence.
- There will be an open bar, cafe and food sold all throughout the weekend courtesy of Petersfield Rugby Club. Loads on offer!
- PLEASE NOTE! If you haven't checked in/weighed in just before the rules meetings (9:15am both days on the dot) then you will not compete. Simple as. We pride ourselves on the most efficient comps and this doesn't start by waiting around for people.
- There will be ample warmup area, weights, time and clear instructions for every category and event, but please listen to announcements or staff who are trying to help. We will not wait around for anyone who can't pay attention.

Deadlift For Reps (Trump Option)
Trump deadlift for reps - two weight options will be laid out for the competitor, with the aim to get as many reps in 60 seconds as possible. Any reps on the heavier option beats the lighter option. On Day 2 of the competition, you are allowed to wear a deadlift suit. We will be using DEADLIFT BARS.
- NO FIGURE 8 STRAPS
- 60 sec time limit
- once you have completed a rep on the heavy bar, you CAN go back down. There ARE separation reps on lighter bar (e.g. 220kg x2 and 190kg x3 beats 220kg x2 and 190kg x2!)
- Any deadlift suit allowed on DAY 2 ONLY.
- Talc allowed but must be applied away from athlete area/any rubber matting
- Any chalk allowed, please allow liquid chalk to fully dry before touching the bars with it.
- You will just be getting a "down" command, any bounced or touch and go reps will be disallowed by your ref.
- Any hitching etc is fine we just want a good solid lockout.
Conan's Wheel
Conan's Wheel - a zercher front carry for max distance round a pivot point in a big circle. No time limit here just as far as you can go. It will be HEAVY. Weights are very much subject to change and account for plate weight only. They are rough estimates, please train for a HEAVY, LOW PICKUP Conan's Wheel.

- you will be allowed to re-pick ONCE if the Conan's goes nowhere or backwards on a first attempt.
- we will follow you with a metre stick for your score.
- You can stop at any time to breathe etc, as long as it doesn't drop
- no belt rules
- Chalk etc is fine
- NO GRIP TOPS
Log Clean And Press For Reps
Log Clean and Press for Reps - 60 seconds to get as many reps as possible floor to overhead. Metal logs being used here.
- 60 second time limit
- you'll get a "down" command only, once full lockout is achieved (arms locked, head through, legs stable)
- 13" logs for weights 50kg or above, 9" log for any weights below 50kg
- NO GRIP TOPS
- Any chalk is fine.
- Any press style allowed, as long as it comes to a stable lockout.
- If your log comes off the pads, you'll be required to put it back yourself before doing another rep.
Sandbag Steeplechase
Sandbag Steeplechase - two bags must be taken down a 20m course, loaded over a steeple in the middle and then loaded over the second steeple at the end. The only twist here is that bag number 1 must be fully completed before running back to bag number 2 all within a 60 second time limit.
- bags can be lifted in any way including shouldering
- you can duck under or go round the steeple
- there will be a line at the endzone where the bags have to be FULLY past it to count
- each "portion" of the course will be split timed (e.g. 1 bag over steeple will get points)
- Steeple height is 46" for all categories.
- Gloves are fine
- NO GRIP TOPS
- Chalk etc is fine, obviously no tacky.
Atlas Stone Sandbag To Shoulder
Atlas stone sandbag to shoulder - 60 seconds with atlas stone shaped sandbags to get as many reps as you can to the shoulder.
- 60 second time limit
- you'll get a "down" once sandbag is on shoulder, stable with an arm away to show control
- gloves are fine
- NO GRIP TOPS
- no tacky or adhesive obviously
- any chalk is fine
