Newbury's Strongest at Newbury Tattoo Convention 2024

Overreach Barbell Club are hosting this year’s Newbury’s Strongest Man and
Woman at Newbury Tattoo Convention 2024.

Newbury’s Strongest aims to find out; who are the strongest men and women in Newbury?

Five distinct strongman events will determine who can prove themselves in
grueling tests of strength.

The first event; the log press. The athletes must lift a heavy metal implement
from the floor to an overhead position. The highest number of repetitions will
dictate the winner of this event.

The second event; the yoke run. The athletes must run from the start line to the
finish line, with a heavy metal yoke on their back. The fastest time to reach the
finish line or the furthest distance travelled will dictate the winner.

The third event; the farmers carry. The athletes must lift a heavy implement in
each hand and run between the start and finish lines, crossing the line each time.
The longest distance travelled in 60 seconds will determine the winner.

The fourth event; the sandbag load. Athletes will load several sandbags over a
bar in the fastest time possible. The fastest time wins.

The fifth event; the deadlift. A bar must be lifted from the floor to a standing
position for as many repetitions as possible in 60 seconds. The highest number
of repetitions will win.

A mystery tie breaker event will occur should any athletes be on the same points after 5 events.

WEIGHTS AND RULES FOR EVENTS BELOW ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

• Log for Reps (60 second time limit)

Men: Choice of 70kg or 100kg log - one rep on heaver log will beat any number of reps on lighter log

Women: Choice of 40kg or 60kg log - one rep on heaver log will beat any number of reps on lighter log

• Yoke Run for Time (15mtr distance, 60 second time limit)

Men: 250kg

Women: 160kg

• Farmers Carry for Distance  (10mtr drop and turn, 60 second time limit)

Men: 110kg per hand

Women: 60kg per hand

• Loading Medley (Kegs and Sandbags, varying distances over bar height TBC)

Men: 70kg/90kg/110kg

Women: 40kg/60kg/75kg

• Deadlift for Reps (60 second time limit)

Men: 210kg standard height OR 240kg 18" raised deadlift (TBC)

Women: 120kg standard height OR 140kg 18" raised deadlift (TBC)

PLEASE NOTE that Newbury Tattoo Convention 2024 is a ticketed event. Entry to the convention and parking is included in the entry fee for athletes. Spectators will need to purchase a ticket to the convention at the link below;

GETTING TO NEWBURY RACECOURSE 

In order to get to the parking for Newbury Racecourse where the competition will be held;

Please follow directions to Stryker House on Hambridge Road, RG14 5AW and then follow signs for Newbury Tattoo Convention/Newbury Racecourse Parking.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 men and women.
