Grip & Press

Carry the Farmers down a 10m course, then complete 3 clean and presses on the Log in the quickest time.

Event 1 - The Grip & Press

Women’s Novice: 55kg per hand / 40kg Women’s Open: 75kg per hand / 50kg Men’s Novice U105: 105kg per hand / 90kg Men’s Novice O105: 115kg per hand / 100kg Men’s Open: 140kg per hand / 130kg

Carry the Farmers down a 10m course, then complete 3 clean and presses on the Log in the quickest time. Split times taken in the event of an athlete not completing the course. Time limit: 60 seconds

Farmers Carry (10 metres) • Lift handles off the ground. • Athletes will carry the handles until the front edge of both implements crosses the finish line. • Upon completion of the entire 10m walk, the competitor will set down the farmers handles and move forward to the overhead log lift. • Athletes will receive a 10 second penalty for any false starts. • Athletes may set the handles down as many times as necessary during the carry. • Athletes may not push, drag, slide or "inch" handles forward on the ground.

Overhead Log Lift • Lifter will take the log from a 9" high drop pad and lift it to arms’ length overhead, locking the elbows and controlling the log. • The lifter may use any technique to bring the log to the chest/front rack position except to stand it on one end and rock it sideways into position. • The log is lifted to the finishing position with the log overhead with the knees, hip and arms fully extended with feet inline and head through at the lockout. • The log may be lifted to the overhead position using a press, a push-press, a push-jerk, or a split jerk but the feet must return to approximately an inline position for the rep to count. • There must me a momentary pause with the athlete in control of the implement for a good lift to be given. • Judge will give “down” signal (hand and voice) to signal good lift. • The repetition is credited when the log is back on the pad with at least one hand in contact with the log. • If log rolls off the crash pads or out of position, lifter must move it back onto the platform before taking their next attempt. Spotters will not assist. • The athlete must lift from a generally central position in the middle of the drop pads. • If the athlete wants to do touch and go reps, they are not allowed to "bounce" the log off the pads to gain momentum for the next rep. • Athletes are not permitted to drop the log from overhead and must follow the log down and have at least one hand on the log when it lands on the pad each lift. • The log must be returned to the pad in front of the body.

Equipment Permitted: • White chalk (Magnesium carbonate or liquid chalk) • Lifting belts • Knee and elbow sleeves • Neoprene back support belt (can also be used under a lifting belt) • Wrist wraps • Grip shirts

Equipment NOT Permitted: • Coloured chalk • Lifting straps of any kind • Knee wraps • Tacky of any kind • Gloves • Sticky adhesives or grip adhesives of any kind anywhere on the clothing, body, or bar (including spray or other) • Multiple layers of sleeves/wraps on top of each other • If a specific piece of equipment is not listed here, athletes should ask a head official for specific approval prior to competition

Deadlift Ladder

Deadlift 4 bars in ascending weight order in the quickest time.

Event 2 - The Deadlift Ladder

Women’s Novice: 110 / 120/ 130 / 140kg Women’s Open: 140 / 150 / 160 / 170kg Men’s Novice U105: 190 / 210 / 230 / 250kg Men’s Novice O105: 200 / 220 / 240 / 260kg Men’s Open: 260 / 280 / 300 / 320kg

Deadlift 4 bars in ascending weight order in the quickest time. Split times taken to determine placings if a competitor does not finish all bars. Time limit: 60 seconds

• Athletes will start 1m away from the first barbell. On the judges whistle you may then proceed to the first barbell. • Barbell begins on the floor. • This is a traditional deadlift with the hands outside of the knees (Sumo Deadlift is not permitted). • Any style of grip is allowed but the thumb MUST be wrapped around the bar. • The Judge will give the call to lift on each rep. • For the lift to count the athlete must stand to a position with the bar in the hang position, standing erect, with the knees and hip fully extended and the shoulders in line with the body. • During the lift, the bar can be hitched, stopped, and even lowered so long as it is brought to the correct finish position at the conclusion of the lift.
• The bar cannot be raised and then bounced to gain momentum. • The Judge will give down signal on a good repetition, then you can move onto the next bar of ascending weight. • The thumb must remain in contact with the bar throughout the lift, if the thumb loses contact with the bar at any time the lift will NOT be counted.

Equipment Permitted: • White chalk (Magnesium carbonate or liquid chalk) • Regular single loop straps (with a single tail) • Versa Grips or such like • Deadlift Suits or Briefs (Open categories ONLY) • Lifting belts • Knee and elbow sleeves • Neoprene back support belt (can also be used under a lifting belt) • Wrist wraps • Grip shirts

Trial by Atlas Stone

Event 5 – Trial by Atlas Stone

Women’s Novice: 50kg Women’s Open: 70kg Men’s Novice U105: 100kg Men’s Novice O105: 110kg Men’s Open: 150kg

Head-to-head elimination format using one Atlas stone. Athletes take turns loading the stone until only one athlete remains. Yoke height: Men 50 inch. Women 44 inch Time limit: 15 seconds to return the stone

• Athletes go head-to-head, pre-determined by their overall position after the previous 4 events. • One athlete lifts the stone first; the opponent must return the stone over the bar within 15 seconds. • If both lift successfully, the cycle repeats until one fails to return the stone. The athlete who failed is then replaced by the athlete who is next placed higher. • This continues until only one athlete remains. The last man/woman standing is declared the event winner. • Stone must fully clear the bar within the 15 second time limit for the rep to count. • The stone cannot be ‘slam dunked’ over, it must be loaded over the bar in a controlled manner. • An athlete failing does not pass the stone to anyone else or restart the cycle, they’re out. The next competitor starts afresh. • Athletes are ranked in order of elimination; points descend from the last athlete standing.

Equipment Permitted: • Stone sleeves • Tacky • White chalk (Magnesium carbonate or liquid chalk) • Lifting belts • Grip Shirts • Knee and elbow sleeves • Neoprene back support belt (can also be used under a lifting belt) • Wrist wraps

Equipment NOT Permitted: • Coloured chalk • Straps of any kind • Knee wraps • Tacky of any kind • Talcum/baby powder • Gloves • Power Briefs, Super suits, deadlifting suits, or other types of support shirts/suits • Multiple layers of sleeves/wraps on top of each other • Grease, oil or other lubricants on thighs • If a specific piece of equipment is not listed here, athletes should ask a head official for specific approval prior to competition
